This is wrong, it is not complete. The universal dichotomy appears everytime that Nature produces a new more complex system. Initially they are opposite, like negative/positive, hot/cold, etc. At this initial state they make the war and creates chaos at the environment. The chaos is bad for both, they suffer and surround, till discovering that an agreement is better for both. From the agreement, comes peace, thermodynamic equilibrium, and the fusion creates a third state... the equilibrium under evolution. The pencil has no third resulting state, but it is a good sample how the Universe works: lots of writings by pencils at the Middle Age were destroyed, but never disappeared, today they are in the Internet, written by keyboards. The universal purpose uses dichotomy for being alive.
